WEB: Where Everybody Belongs

WEB: Where Everybody Belongs

John Sedgwick Middle School’s WEB Leaders have been mentoring our incoming classes of students since 2016. In the WEB Leader recruitment process, 7th grade teachers recommend students for this honor, based on demonstrated kindness and reliability.

To serve as a WEB Leader requires a commitment to each and every aspect of WEB!

Generals' WEB Leaders are 8th grade students who are good role models for younger students. WEB Leaders’ communication skills, leadership potential, responsibility and personality have helped them succeed in the middle school environment, and the lessons they have learned are shared to help others succeed. WEB Leaders have a tremendous influence on our new students and they learn many valuable leadership skills in the process. Plus, it's lots of fun!!

What does a WEB Leader do? WEB Leaders are trained to work with incoming 6th graders and other new students who are entering our school throughout the year. After some training, WEB Leaders greet our future students when they are 5th graders, serving as tour guides for their first visit to our school in June. WEB Leaders help with 6th grade orientation before school starts in the fall. Each WEB Leader team is assigned small groups of 6th graders and is asked to befriend and to help that group during the first week of school with any challenges they may face. Throughout the school year, WEB Leaders meet again with their student groups to touch base, discuss problems, and plan social activities. We know the more contact a 6th grader has with his or her WEB Leader, the more successful the 6th grader will be.
