Hello John Sedgwick Middle School Families,

My name is Abbie Barabe and I’m delighted to join the John Sedgwick team this year! I recently worked in the Peninsula School District as the Principal at Vaughn Elementary and Assistant Principal at Harbor Ridge Middle School. I’m thrilled to work in South Kitsap School District where we Love People and Get Better Every Day. I truly believe in this work, and I am excited to watch our students grow into the amazing adults we know they can become.

At John Sedgwick, our mission is to help ALL students reach their full academic, social, and emotional potential, and our vision is to make our school a place where students can work hard, have fun, make a difference, and feel a genuine sense of belonging.

This year, we’re embracing the theme “Learning by Doing, Always Improving.” Whether that means exploring hands-on projects, trying new strategies, or seeking feedback to grow, our focus is learning in action and continually getting better.

I believe that school is really about relationships—getting to know one another, working together, and supporting each other. I’m excited to get to know students, families, and staff, and to work together toward our shared goals.
